NDR-UK is the UK’s practitioner-led nutrition and diet resource provider.
NDR-UK’s vision is to become the recognised national (UK) authority for the provision of ‘fit-for-purpose’ nutrition and dietetic resources for dietitians and other health professionals to use with the public to empower them to make changes to their diets to improve their quality of life.
Strategic plan
This strategic plan aims to provide a broad overview of the new charitable company’s direction for the next five years. It is divided into four key result areas of resources, quality assurance, communication & marketing and management.
Resources
Goal: To produce robust nutrition and diet resources (diet-sheets) fit for purpose.
Strategic Activities
- Research, develop and publish nutrition and diet resources.
- Update diet-sheets accordingly - ensuring all information is current.
- Maintain a sustainable portfolio of diet-sheets.
- Work with other agencies and organisations to avoid duplication of effort and enhance the complementarity of resources.
- Keep abreast of developments within the patient information field.
- Maintain an effective design, print, distribution and sales management contract, which will ensure that resources are printed and stocked appropriately.
- Develop a research programme to examine the clinical effectiveness of the diet0sheets.
Quality Assurance
Goal: To promote and maintain excellence.
Strategic Activities
- Maintain and update the production process for diet-sheet development in line with new policies and practices, such as, encompassing the principles of the Plain English campaign, Royal National Institute of Blind People and Department of Health’s Information Accreditation Scheme Standard.
- Proactively engage with specialists in the field of diet and nutrition including the BDA Specialist Groups.
- Maintain patient involvement in the development and production of diet-sheets.
- Provide opportunities for healthcare professionals involved in the development of diet-sheets to develop and extend advanced practice skills.
- Support healthcare professionals involved in the development of diet-sheets in understanding and responding to emerging issues for example food regulation, government policies.
Communication & Marketing
Goal: To raise the profile and opportunities for the organisation.
Strategic Activities
- Increase community awareness of Nutrition and Diet Resources (NDR-UK) as the leading producer of diet-sheets in the UK.
- Increase community awareness of dietitians and their role in the development and provision of nutrition and diet resources.
- Promote the diversity and expertise of NDR-UK to key groups within the UK.
- Enhance communication between and to all stakeholders in NDR-UK.
- Work in partnership with other national agencies/organisations.
- Communicate accurate and practical nutrition information to the UK population.
Management
Goal: To develop a secure and sustainable organisation.
Strategic Activities
- Effectively manage NDR-UK.
- Grow NDR-UK.
- Increase external funding.
- Develop alternative income streams.
- Fully engage with national professional bodies involved with diet and nutrition.
