Dietary Advice for Crohn's Disease -
The new Dietary Advice for Crohn's Disease pack should be published and ready to order in early May 2012. Publication has been delayed due to unforeseen circumstances.
This range of resources has been developed in partnership with the British Dietetic Association (BDA) Gastroenterology Specialist Group to support the Crohn’s: Evidence based practice guidelines for the dietetic management of Crohn’s disease in adults (November 2011).
The Crohn’s Disease and Diet Pack is a range of 4 leaflets with a Starter Plan liquid diet template for specialist health professionals to use with their patients and clients with Crohn’s disease.
The leaflets are:
Dietary Advice for Crohn’s Disease (HP) – this is a general leaflet covering key themes of symptoms and things to eat and avoid during active or remission stages of Crohn's disease.
Liquid Diet (HP) and Liquid Diet (D) – these leaflets are designed to be issued by specialist IBD teams to patients considering moving onto a liquid diet (HP), and then the comprehensive dietetic leaflet (D) is designed to support patients who have chosen to go onto a liquid diet. The resources explain the different types of liquid diet and the steps involved in making the change.
Strictures (D) – this brief, specialist dietitians’ leaflet that provides dietary guidance for people with stricture(s).
D – should be given to patients/clients with the support of a dietitian;
HP - should be given to patents/clients with the support of a relevant health or care professional
