Physical Activity
A comprehensive guide for adults with Type 1 diabetes to plan and safely participate in activity (light activity through to competitive training), whilst managing their diabetes.
Endorsed by the British Dietetic Association.
Advice requires detailed explanation from a Dietitian or other specialist Health Professional with appropriate nutritional knowledge, to enable correct understanding and implementation.
To support people with Type 1 diabetes manage their condition whilst participating safely at all levels of physical activity and sport.
The Target Group will:
- know how different types of activity can affect blood glucose
- know how to adjust insulin and eating patterns to maintain blood glucose within the target range and optimise performance
- understand the importance of regular blood glucose testing and how to respond to blood glucose levels.
