Enforcement of healthy eating messages for self-management - advice is easily understood requiring no additional explanation.
The booklet aims to help people reduce their risk of developing Type 2 Diabetes. It focusses on key risk factors and promotes healthy eating and lifestyle approaches through self-directed behaviour change.
This resource is not suitable for frail/elderly people.
The audience will understand key risks of Type 2 Diabetes, and diet and lifestyle interventions will reduce these risks:
- managing weight and reducing overweight will help reduce the risk of developing T2DM
- losing at least 5% weight loss should improve glycaemic control
- aim to be active through at least 30 minutes of moderate activity, 5 times a week.
By promoting messages from the Eatwell Guide, the audience will understand the importance of:
- reducing/limiting, sweet/sugary food and drink; saturated fat; salt
- including wholegrains, fruit and veg, oily fish and lean/plant-based proteins.
