The Target Group will:

  • understand what CHD is what dietary factors contribute, and help reduce the risk of it.
  • know that an excessive intake of salt can lead to an increase in blood pressure.
  • understand the benefits of and how to have a Mediterranean diet.

The Target Group will know:

  • The types, sources and effects of fat in reducing further clinical CHD events and risk factors
  • Which foods are rich in fat, especially saturated fats
  • Replacing saturated fats with unsaturated fats improves lipid levels
  • What reduced/healthy fat alternatives are and how to read labels to make health(ier) food choices
  • That antioxidant vitamin supplements show no CHD protection
  • The benefits and risks of soy for cholesterol management

The Target Group will know:

  • What a healthy weight and size is.
  • That 5-10% weight loss is beneficial with a BMI over 25.

Please be aware that the UK Chief Medical Officers have issued new advice regarding alcohol consumption:

  • Men and women are advised to drink no more than 14 units of alcohol a week, and to have several alcohol free days each week.
  • Women should take no alcohol during pregnancy.
