Nutrition and Diet Resources UK (NDR-UK) was delighted to receive a message from Dr Gregor Smith, Chief Medical Officer for Scotland, as its Board of Trustees held its 10th AGM on 2nd September 2021. In a statement, Dr Smith commented:

“It is with great pleasure that I congratulate NDR-UK on the tremendous achievement of its tenth anniversary. NDR-UK is a key partner of Scottish Government and NHS Scotland, supporting a range of important health policies by developing vital resources for patients and healthcare professionals, delivering consistent messages throughout Scotland.

Getting the right nutrition benefits everyone’s wellbeing and is particularly important for those recovering from a medical procedure or managing a long-term health condition.  By utilising the latest expert dietary science, NDR-UK helps health professionals deliver better, more comprehensive care and aids patients to obtain up-to-date, evidenced advice in an accessible way.

I look forward to continuing to work with NDR-UK in supporting the health of the people of Scotland.”

With support from Scottish Government, NDR-UK was established as an independent charity in 2011 to take forward the previous work of the Scottish Diet Sheet Initiative (SCDI) and Scottish Nutrition and Diet Resources Initiative (SNDRi). It is estimated that 2 million patients across the UK have been helped over this time to prevent, improve or manage their health conditions through the expert diet information provided by NDR-UK to dietitians and other health professionals.

Outgoing Chair, Morag MacKellar OBE, said:

“It has been my pleasure to lead NDR-UK over the past 10 years, as it has adapted and evolved to meet the challenges of becoming a sustainable social enterprise whilst maintaining the high standards of production and content for which it is well-known and highly valued across the UK health sector.”

The Board appointed Jan Flint as the new Chair. A registered dietitian by profession, Jan is currently Managing Director of the NHS Covid vaccination centre under Barts Health NHS Trust and has been a Board member of NDR-UK since 2015. Jan commented:

“I’m looking forward to working with the NDR-UK staff team and other Board Trustees as we start to develop our new strategy for the future, building on the firm foundation of achievements to date, and embracing the demands for patient-centred and digital solutions for efficient and effective healthcare.”
