Delivering sessions to dietetic students

Did you know... we offer sessions to universities teaching dietetic courses?

Over the last year, our Development Officer has been delivering digital sessions/webinars with dietetic students from universities across the UK including, Queen Margaret University, Kings College London, Ulster University, Glasgow Caledonian University, Robert Gordon University and Hertfordshire University, with more planned for later in the year.

The sessions aim to give students an insight into NDR-UK:

  • who we are and what we do
  • our range of resources available to support practice
  • the stages involved in developing written resources
  • the importance of evidence-based, peer reviewed information and health literacy considerations
  • a demonstration of our digital resource platform, NDR Prescribe
  • how we can support dietitians on placement and in their future career.

If you are interested in a session with NDR-UK, or would like further details, please get in touch by email info@ndr-uk.org

"Thank you so much for the session this morning it was extremely informative and I have already had positive feedback from the students." Senior Lecturer, Dietetics and Nutrition

"Thank you so much for today... your session was really useful to everyone (including me!)." Lecturer, Dietetics & Nutrition

NDR Prescribe: pilot project with Ulster University

We have been working with Ulster University on a pilot project with dietetic students aiming to nurture skills and increase knowledge and understanding of the use of quality evidence-based information within practice.

As part of the project, students have had the chance to access and use digital resources via NDR Prescribe within scenario settings, prior to their final placement. Instant access to evidence-based dietary guidance aims to support dietitians in communicating key messages to patients about their condition. The sessions are also an opportunity for students to familiarise themselves with the information available to support their practice, and try using relevant resources within a range of scenario settings.

We are now beginning to evaluate and further develop the project as we move into the second year. This includes plans to set up NDR Prescribe accounts specifically for students to use during their final placement.

Following this, we hope to roll out the project to more universities within the UK. Please get in touch if you would like more details.
