Out now - Diet and Diverticular Disease

Published: 27.09.22

Diverticular disease is becoming increasingly common across the developed world with current figures suggesting that up to 1 in 2 people will be affected during their lifetime1.

Old practice and advice are difficult to change, so it is vital that patients receive current, evidenced information from their healthcare team.  That is why NDR is always so grateful to work with specialists to review and update its resources.  Dr Alex Mitchell, RD who specialises in GI disorders, provided her specialist knowledge and understanding to restructure and update the guidance based on current NICE Guidelines2 and related evidence.  This expertise ensures that complex information is presented clearly and effectively, so that it can be confidently issued by all healthcare professionals.

It is also vital to ensure that the presentation of information is attractive, engaging and accessible to support and motivate patients as they live with and manage long term conditions. With the kind support of Guts UK, we reused their fantastic diagram to explain stages of diverticular disease and applied a fresh, bright look to illustrate the dietary advice.

Alex said it was, ‘Great to be involved in producing high quality, evidence-based information booklets on nutrition and diet – check [it] out’.
