Published: 02.08.19

We are pleased to reveal the new covers of our IBS and Lactose Intolerance resources! Developed with dietitians across NHS Lanarkshire, NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde and NHS Lothian, these resources are in the final stages of design and will be in print soon. Please email info@ndr-uk.org if you would like to be added to the mailing list for notifications about the publication of these resources.

The new IBS resource was developed to support second-line gastroenterology services within IBS pathway(s). Full product details available here.

The aim is that the Target Group (TG) will understand what IBS is, and:

  • that symptoms may be aggravated by diet, lifestyle and/or other factors including stress
  • regular, balanced, varied meals are advised based on healthy eating principles of the Eatwell Guide
  • that over-restriction of food or food groups should be avoided
  • will understand how to modify their fibre intake.

The new Lactose Intolerance resource was developed to to support people with a suspected or proven intolerance to lactose. Full product details available here.

The aim is that that Target Group (TG) will;

  • know what lactose is and how to identify foods that contain/are likely to contain it
  • know what the symptoms of lactose intolerance are, and that people can have varying and changeable tolerance levels
  • understand that intolerance is not an allergy and the role of lactase in symptom control
  • know how to start and build a reintroduction plan to control their symptoms
  • be aware of the dietary risks of eliminating lactose and be able to implement guidance to reduce these risks.
