September Round-Up 2019

Published: 03.10.19

Another month has been and gone and we can’t believe it’s already October! It’s been a busy month for NDR-UK so we wanted to take stock of all the developments, projects in progress and updates coming soon for our customers. We hope you find this interesting and as always, the team can be reached at info@ndr-uk.org, 0141 202 0690 or through our growing social media accounts – Twitter, Facebook and LinkedIn.

New Project Updates

We recently announced that we will developing a new resource around gastroparesis, working with specialists in diabetes and gastroenterology at Royal Stoke University Hospital. This represents a new topic area for NDR-UK and we welcome expressions of interest as this project develops.

NDR-UK have also been working behind the scenes with our web team to bring a whole new look and feel to our website. We are pleased that the design phase is nearing completion and we will soon be moving forward with development and testing so watch this space for further details on when the new design will be live!

Event Euphoria

NDR-UK presented NDR Prescribe, our digital resource service, at the BDA Dietetics in Scotland event and we were delighted to host a stand and attend the full day of engaging and thought-provoking sessions. We loved the energising session straight after lunch which had everyone moving and laughing before a lively debate around whether dietitians and dietetic services in Scotland should be embedded in primary care as opposed to acute hospitals.

We have also been delivering NDR Prescribe demonstrations, both in person and remotely, as well as planning for a busy autumn full of events including the BDA Oncology Day, the EFAD Conference and the BAPEN Conference. There is also a wealth of events which can be engaged with digitally from the comfort of a home office, from the #RDUK chat taking place at 8pm on 7th October to Malnutrition Awareness Week #MAW which runs from 14th – 20th October! Look out for #MalnutritionMonday taking place on the last Monday of every month too, with @NDR_UK leading the November campaign.

Resources: Newly Published and Now Recruiting

We were pleased to publish our full new Renal Range which aims to support the dietary education for long-term condition management of people with chronic kidney disease. NDR-UK also launched two new stand-alone resources, Dietary Advice for IBS and Dietary Advice for Lactose Intolerance which were developed with dietitians across NHS Lanarkshire, NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde and NHS Lothian.

As ever, we also have a full roster of resource projects in development and are now actively seeking support to form a Review Project Group for two key areas;

Participation requires a strong commitment members while offering a rewarding professional opportunity to lead and support dietary education through care pathways and patient education. Previous group members have commented:

‘I always feel that as AHPs, we are at our best when…sharing, combining and enhancing our skills and knowledge. This project epitomised this concept for me and it was a true privilege to work with such informed and passionate colleagues.’

‘A real pleasure, [we] have … thoroughly enjoyed working with @NDR_UK’.

One of our members engaged in the development of our recently published recipe book Nourish, is pictured above proudly presenting the resource development journey at the BDA Northern Ireland Future Leaders Study Day.

If you would like to be involved, or would like any further information about any of our resources or development projects, please reach out at info@ndr-uk.org or on 0141 202 0690.
