Reactive Hypoglycaemia
This resource is for people experiencing reactive hypoglycaemia (it is not appropriate for people with diagnosed with any type of diabetes).
The causes of reactive hypoglycaemia are multiple and varied, and may include bariatric surgery, oesophagectomy, gastrectomy, insulinomas and/or idiopathic reasons.
Advice requires detailed explanation from a Dietitian or other specialist Health Professional with appropriate nutritional knowledge, to enable correct understanding and implementation.
By using the resource, the reader will understand how to:
- limit instances of hypoglycaemia by dietary approaches including small, frequent meals; choosing lower GI foods; achieving an overall balanced diet with adequate protein intake
- treat hypoglycaemia.
