My name is Lorna Breeze ...

and I am the Project Development Officer at Nutrition & Diet Resources UK. I graduated from Northumbria University in June 2013 with a BSc (Hons) in Applied Sport and Exercise Science. Through placements and my experience in top level sport I realised that nutrition was my main interest within the field.

My personal experience of a close relative with a cancer diagnosis further inspired me to take up a career in dietetics and to give back to a profession that supported my family. Therefore, in September 2013 I started as a Macmillan Dietetic Assistant Practitioner with NHS Ayrshire & Arran which further cemented my interest in nutrition. I am also the PR Officer for the local BDA West of Scotland Branch.

I recently graduated from Glasgow Caledonian University with a postgraduate diploma in Dietetics so I am now a registered Dietitian! I have taken a slightly long, expensive and different route into dietetics however the opportunities I have been provided with along the way have been invaluable to both my personal and professional development.

The opportunity with NDR-UK has provided me give me invaluable experience in a slightly different field, in a short space of time, whilst also be able to use my dietetic expertise and knowledge. I am the Project Development Officer for the prescribable electronic resources library; the role is exciting and diverse and I have already gained a great deal of experience and knowledge from working within the team.

The most interesting part of the job is gaining feedback from freelance and NHS Dietitians on the new project which shapes the future of electronic resources within the profession. I think (although maybe I am a little biased?!) the project is exciting and innovative and it is great to be able to share this with Dietitians and Health Care Professionals around the UK.
